In addition to her practice, Dr. Shapiro is the Scientific Director at Santech, Inc in San Diego, CA, in which she directs research studies on the use of mobile and wireless technologies (e.g., text messaging, building Internet treatments) to enhance treatment for health related conditions, mainly weight management. Dr. Shapiro is also Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University.
Dr. Shapiro has published numerous scientific papers on disordered eating and annually presents at international conferences including the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), Eating Disorders Research Society (EDRS), Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM), and The Obesity Society. She is a member of those organizations and is also the founder and chair of the Information Technology for the Treatment of Eating Disorders Special Interest Group of AED. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for several scientific journals. |
